Mission
Dokuz Eylul University, Marine Transportation Engineering Department trains Oceangoing Watchkeeping Officers for ships operating in the world’s seas with its international education. In the department, a training system is implemented that will ensure that the profession has the knowledge and skills that are compatible with the global accreditation systems of maritime. With this process-oriented and application-based education model, students’ success rate of at least 80% is aimed in the Seafarers Exam Center (GASM) exams. The department also targets the employment rate of newly graduated students on ships as 80% for the first year. It is aimed to educate students as individuals who are enthusiastic and inquirers, have leadership qualities, have teamwork and problem-solving skills, are bound to maritime customs, and have high safety, security, and environmental awareness.

To be the institution that trains the most preferred watchkeeping officers by national and international maritime businesses by applying the requirements of international maritime education.
